Position Summary

eX2 Technology is searching for an ambitious individual who is an experienced Network Engineer.  This position will focus on the design, implementation and maintenance of communication networks for public and private entities.  Ensures the networks are running smoothly and upgrades the networks to maximize performance.  This individual must have strong communication and customer relation skills.

The success of eX2 Technology hinges on our ability to deliver on contractual commitments to our customers.  The selected candidate must bring a strong, verifiable track record of managing large networks with a high level of customer satisfaction.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Installs computer networks such as local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) and other communications networks.
  • Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation and defining, documenting and enforcing system standards.
  • Must have detailed understanding of contractual requirements. Reviews customer requirements and expectations and works with project management and engineering teams to meet and exceed customer requirements.
  • Maximizes network performance by monitoring and troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
  • Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies and defining and monitoring access to the network.
  • Prepares regular reports on the operational status of the network. Includes thorough documentation of network problems.
  • Continuously updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.
  • Work with management to schedule work and manage workload to meet customer and Company expectations.

Duties & Skills

  • Cisco CCNA
  • Thorough knowledge of communications systems – wired and wireless.
  • Knowledge of communications inside and outside plant infrastructure design.
  • Detailed knowledge of estimating, budgeting, project schedule and contracts.
  • Demonstrated customer relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent people skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent communications skills (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented.

Qualification & Education

The ideal candidate should have 10 years of experience in the IT, communications or critical infrastructure industries with at least five (5) years of network engineering experience.  A BS degree in engineering or similar degree is required.  An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.  Candidate must have Cisco CCNA certification.

Other Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit; use hand and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The incumbent is required to walk daily on construction sites in rough terrain, and climb ladders and facilities under construction.  The incumbent is occasionally required to stand for long periods of time.  The incumbent may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. And occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent may split time between work in a semi-quiet office environment and on customer sites, where there is moderate to occasional great noise levels.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering and construction drawings and specifications, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and other documents.  Communicates effectively in both oral and written English technical language, both in interpreting requirements and providing reports and mentoring.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The incumbent must have a valid driver’s license and pass a mandatory drug test.
