eX² Technology Helps Bring High-Speed Internet Access to Rural New Hampshire, Enables Remote Learning, Telework and Economic Development

Bristol, N.H. - September 21, 2021 - eX² Technology, a Vivacity, LLC company and a single-source solution for those seeking to build, scale or future proof their communications infrastructure, announces the completion of a Hybrid Fiber to the Premise (FTTP) network architecture solution using Active Ethernet and Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology in the town of Bristol, N.H. The fiber-optic network is a 24-mile route from town to the statewide NetworkNH system at Plymouth State University (PSU). The Bristol Broadband Now initiative, a two-phased project made possible through Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act and Northern Border Regional Commission grant funding, brings high-speed broadband services to 3,300 underserved and unserved rural community members and their businesses.

The Town of Bristol, the only municipality in New Hampshire to receive CARES Act grant money for telecom infrastructure, issued its Request for Proposals in August 2020 for the design, engineering and construction of the network after years of planning and strategizing with area stakeholders. The first phase was completed December 15, 2020, in accordance with CARES Act funding regulations. On September 16th, 2021, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the Town Office in Bristol, N.H. to celebrate the second phase and final project completion.

“We are pleased to announce the completion of the Bristol Broadband Now network, bringing high-speed broadband services to not only residents of this community, but also businesses, municipal buildings and educational facilities,” said Jay Jorgensen, Chief Operating Officer, eX² Technology.

“The team at eX² worked closely with us to complete this project quickly and efficiently. They were understanding given the short timeline, and they were able to accommodate us every step of the way,” said Bristol’s Town Administrator Nicholas Coates. “Building a fiber-optic network will provide the fuel we need to compete on a regional, national and global level. It will provide us with the speed and bandwidth necessary to support telework, remote schooling and multiple simultaneous connections.”

The Bristol Broadband Now project is the first of a larger 353-mile Connect Grafton County Now initiative that will eventually connect all 39 municipalities within Grafton County. eX² Technology was selected by the Grafton County Broadband Committee to design, build and maintain the fiber-optic network backbone to be built next year.
