Position Summary

eX² Technology is searching for Field Technician Assistant to join its team in Omaha, NE or Des Moines, IA. This person will assist the Electronics Field Technician in the installation and maintenance of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of IP cameras, in-ground sensors, low-power wireless sensor networks, wireless and wired local area network (LAN) equipment, power supplies, cellular communication devices and other low voltage devices
  • Mount equipment cabinets, solar panels and electronic devices on poles
  • Install in-pavement detection sensors, including concrete core drilling
  • Measure, cut and bend wire and conduit
  • Drill holes for wiring and pull or push wiring through opening
  • Assist in lifting, positioning and fastening objects such as wiring, conduit and field equipment cabinets
  • Maintain tools and equipment and keep supplies and parts in order
  • Clean work area, machines, tools and equipment
  • Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials and equipment
  • Perform other routine duties

Duties & Skills

  • Ability to work as required in varying weather climates
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Ability to operate a towable lift and work from aerial platform
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Ability to use a personal computer to operate basic office software applications
  • Must be able to multitask, problem solve and implement innovative processes within a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively report and document technical information
  • Ability to effectively manage tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate and interact with colleagues in a self-managed team structure

Qualification & Education

Knowledge of construction, electrical systems installation or electronic security systems and maintenance practices a plus. A high school degree or equivalent is required.

Other Requirements

The incumbent will be provided with hand/power tools required to perform the work. The incumbent will be required to sit; use hand and fingers, handle and feel objects, tools and controls; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear regularly while performing the duties of this job. The incumbent will be required to walk daily on construction sites in rough terrain and climb ladders and facilities under construction. The incumbent will be required to stand for long periods of time on occasion. The incumbent may be required to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs. with assistance. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent may work at construction sites where there is moderate to occasional great noise levels.

Ability to communicate effectively and interpret technical instructions.
