eX² TECHNOLOGY ASSESSING THE VALUE OF E-470’S COMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE

eX² Technology LLC recently entered into a professional services agreement to perform a comprehensive analysis of the E-470 Public Highway Authority’s existing communications infrastructure. Upon its assessment, eX² Technology will provide recommendations for commercializing the excess duct, dark fiber and wireless assets on an open market basis.

E-470 is a 75-mph toll road that forms a 47-mile semi-circle around metropolitan Denver’s eastern area, spanning three counties and five municipalities. It is a self-sustaining organization, generating revenue through toll collection to operate and maintain the transportation system without recourse to taxpayer funds.

eX² Technology’s comprehensive analysis will include a detailed legal documentation review, field surveys, fiber plant and wireless inspections, and high-level market research.

Upon completing its study, eX² Technology will provide a consolidated report detailing its recommended approach for enhancing E-470’s current infrastructure and commercializing the asset.

“E-470 prides itself on innovation and tolling excellence,” said Sandra Bish, director of information technology, E-470 Public Highway Authority. “By commercializing untapped communications capacity, the Authority will gain an additional funding source that can be used to further develop technological advancements on the toll road and possibly serve as the catalyst to bring broadband to underserved surrounding communities. This is a very innovative solution to long-term funding issues.”

“Before beginning any network asset commercialization program, it is imperative to fully understand the value and condition of your infrastructure assets,” said Misty Stine, executive vice president, eX² Technology.  “We value the opportunity to work with E-470, helping them find unique ways to leverage their rights of way and communications assets to the benefit of the carrier market and community alike.”

The project’s expected completion date is Q1 2018.
