Sales Executive

­Position Summary

eX² Technology is searching for an experienced Sales Executive to join our team. This position will focus on developing and closing new sales opportunities with municipalities and other entities seeking to deploy Smart City technology like broadband, smart grid, connected vehicles and other smart city initiatives within the western half of the United States. This individual must possess strong leadership ability, written and oral communication skills and outstanding internal and external customer relations aptitude.

The Sales Executive will lead the sales effort and work closely with Project Development and Estimating to prepare and deliver winning proposal responses to various opportunities. Post award, they will work with Operations during project implementation to ensure customer satisfaction that leads to a positive reference and long-term relationships for the company. The success of eX² Technology hinges on Sales ability to generate profitable business and revenue for the company. The selected candidate must bring a strong, verifiable and successful track record of selling smart, integrated system solutions for broadband, critical infrastructure, fiber optic and/or wireless network technologies.

We expect the candidate to have contacts within the municipal utility or local and state government agency industry and the associated vendor community. Experience with developing public private partnerships and knowledge of various grant and other funding programs available for healthcare, education, broadband, transportation or economic development projects is a plus.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Qualify and prioritize leads and business opportunities to maximize time invested;

  • Create the win strategy for an opportunity. Lead the internal sales process to include the differentiators between eX² and competitors;

  • Build long-term relationships with customers to create positive references;

  • Be the primary contact for the customer. Develop a ‘trusted advisor’ relationship;

  • Assist with proposal preparation as required. Work with Project Development and Estimating to ensure that the ‘sales strategy and the win theme’ is clear in the proposal;

  • Assist Legal with contractual negotiations, as required;

  • Provide accurate reports of sales activities, as required;

  • Manage expenses, observe and enforce company policies and procedures;

  • Travel, as required;

  • Other duties as defined.

Skills & Experience

  • Strategic thinker and understand the turnkey solution selling approach;

  • Keen understanding of smart city technologies and what is driving these initiatives;

  • Ability to identify and develop collaborative relationships between customers, consultants and the vendor community to move opportunities forward;

  • Possess creative and innovative business development skills, thinking outside of the box;

  • Customer advocate with excellent interpersonal skills;

  • Effectively and efficiently organize, communicate and execute on the strategic vision or sales plan of each opportunity;

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint;

  • Working knowledge of CRM or other sales management tools;

  • Valid driver’s license.

Qualification & Education

  • The ideal candidate should have 10 years of sales experience in the communications field. 

  • A BS/BA degree in marketing, business administration or a related degree is required.

  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
