Located in beautiful and thriving Northeastern Arizona, Navajo County has embarked on a unique endeavor to construct a 105-mile publicly funded middle mile fiber network that will expand broadband connectivity and promote further economic growth and development opportunities throughout the region. The investment in Northeast Arizona broadband infrastructure provides a critical foundation for extending high-capacity connectivity into communities across the county.

In partnership with eX² Technology, Navajo County’s open-access middle mile backbone offers service providers, carriers, municipalities, hyperscalers and other network users the ability to secure dark fiber in Navajo County and significantly increase bandwidth capacity throughout previously unserved or underserved areas. The newly constructed, 100% underground backbone provides essential rural fiber infrastructure to support a multitude of economic development ventures with data transport capabilities for connections to homes, 1,300+ area businesses and community anchor institutions, including healthcare agencies, educational facilities, libraries, public safety authorities and beyond.

The regional broadband network is strategically located with direct connection to major markets including Phoenix, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Albuquerque and Salt Lake City with infrastructure ready for development. The middle-mile network helps address growing demand for improved broadband and expanded bandwidth capacity while creating new opportunities for network expansion, regional connectivity and additional economic development throughout Northeastern Arizona.
